Kwai, Nidobak
For all the "Gourd heads" who are looking for a good video on wood burning, I can highly recommend one by Sue Walters. Her double CD, video Workshop, titled: PYROGRAPHY WORKSHOP with Sue Walters, STUDY OF A HAWK, takes you step by step from placing the image on your work surface through toning and finish. You can see the tools she uses (which I always find helpful) and she explains how heat can effect what you are doing and the end result.
I have to admit that watching such a long video (85 minutes long) I fell asleep a couple of times, but the nice thing is you can always go back and pick up where you left off. You can also review if you want to see something over again.
Another CD I watched earlier is put out by Welburn Gourd Farm. It is INTRODUCTION TO GOURD CRAFTING with Dianne Connelly. It is a good video for people starting out and as a refresher for those of who have been doing it for a while. This CD includes: selecting the gourd, cutting, and cleaning, to natural fiber weaving and applying stains and finishes.
But when it comes to learning about wood burning, the CD by Sue Walters is far superior in its detailed, illustrated steps.
Happy gourding!
